For the longest time, I couldn’t understand why it was so hard for neu to raise 💵.
I mean, we’d done all the things you hear a startup should:
✔️Solve a real problem
✔️Build an MVP
✔️Get paying customers
✔️Get revenues/Make
And yet when we tried to raise, investors were even more skeptical! We couldn’t raise to save our lives.
For the longest time, it didn’t make sense…
Until I re-read “The Lean Startup” and came across this passage then it all clicked:
“The irony is that it is often easier to raise money or acquire other resources when you have zero revenue, zero customers, and zero traction than when you have a small amount. Zero invites imagination, but small numbers invite questions about whether large numbers will ever materialize.”
I call it the most “unintuitive” thing in startups.
